Christelle Taraud, (Sorbonne - University Paris 1, PhD 2002), has been teaching in the Columbia Undergraduate Program in Paris since 2002. A specialist in the history of women, gender and sexuality in a colonial context especially the Maghreb, she is the author of La prostitution coloniale. Algérie, Tunisie, Maroc, 1830-1962 (Paris, Payot, 2003 and 2009) and Amour interdit.
